Thanks for this checklist. Exactly what I have been looking for. My husband and I started our blog a couple of years ago and have been blindly doing it, unsuccessfully. Hoping this will help in getting us some much-needed traction for getting more organic views.

Hey Michael — I went back and checked in Safari and I was able to download it just fine — what you’re describing sounds like a wireless printer issue? (Like your browser was trying to send the document to your printer but your WiFi connection might have an issue?). Just thinking out loud here — if you’re unable to get it, just let me know and I’ll send you a link for the direct download. 🙂

For sure — this was a huge mistake that we made early on in our blogging journey. We 100% underestimated the importance of:

1) Having a systematic way for publishing posts to maintain consistency (and quality).
2) Having a system for identifying and auditing content potential/how it might further our brand rather than throwing what we thought might be popular against a wall and hoping it would stick.

Love this checklist!

I used to publish posts and almost immediately go back and make changes, realizing I left something out. Using a checklist before publishing has helped a ton.

Definitely glad your step #3 and #6 are on my checklist as well. Adding #17 right now. I need to focus on paying attention to which posts do well and giving readers more of what they want, rather than just following my long list of things I want to write about.
