Cellulite is one of those little annoyances that almost all women seem to deal with and due to our more ‘computer driven’ lives men are now dealing with cellulite too. Cellulite doesn’t discriminate against large or small, heavy or thin people. Nowadays almost everyone has this ‘orange peel’ skin problem. There are ways to get rid of cellulite, although expensive and it can come back, there are many natural and inexpensive ways to make it less noticeable leaving you with smoother and tighter skin.
What is Cellulite
Commonly referred to as orange peel skin, cellulite is caused by toxins and water that are trapped within the many fibers of the skin. Deposited fat also plays a role in the dimpled appearance.
Many things contribute to having cellulite, here are the three most common:
1. A Sedentary Lifestyle. If you consume a lot of saturated oil and trans fats, such as in fried foods and many chemically laden foods is said to contribute to the cellulite problem.
2. Genetics. Based on our genetics and if we have thick or thin skin, will allow the orange peel skin to be more prevalent.
3. Diet. Lack of exercise is also attributed to the dimpled skin as not enough circulation keeps the toxins and fat build up right below the surface instead of helping to flush the body if you exercise. However, even though you may exercise, just not mean it will completely rid you of the cellulite, since diet and genetics do play a part. Keeping active also helps our body in many other ways.
Is There a Solution for Cellulite?
Over the years body wraps have become a big part of helping one to diminish cellulite. Depending on the products being used, these wraps will help you to see a definite smoother appearance. The body can be either wrapped in elastic type bandages or gauze like bandages that allows the products to stay close to the body and “work their magic.” A typical body wrap treatment lasts about an hour.
Here are five of the most common natural cellulite solutions:
Mineral Body Wraps. Using a mineral body wrap can actually help to disperse waste in the body and providing the body with many lacking minerals allowing it to function better and ridding it of the excess toxins and water that surround those cellulite ridden cells.
Clay and/or Mud Body Wraps. When using clay or mud, these wraps help to pull the moisture and excess water from the cells. Sort of like an all over body poultice.
Dry Body Brushing. Dry body brushing is a great way to stimulate the skin in order to help rid it of surface dead skin, providing circulation to come to the surface and helping the body to force itself to rid itself of toxins through the pours and also through urine. It is important to use a natural bristle brush and on a dry body to start on the soles of the feet and work up and out in circular motions to stimulate circulation. This treatment should feel invigorating and best done in the morning upon rising before you take a shower or bath.
Infrared Blankets and/or Infrared Saunas. Infrared is used to heat the body from the inside out. In fact, infrared rays penetrate the body one and half to two inches deep and help to force out excess water and toxins through the skin. The best part of infrared is that it can heat the body up to a safe 116 degrees, which is said to be the temperature needed to burn fat. This infrared treatment helps to also burn fat because it can raise your metabolism and get your heart pumping as if you were running a mile. But never spend more than 60 minutes in an infrared blanket or infrared sauna.
Massage. Yes, something as simple as massage can help to diminish cellulite. People that receive weekly deep tissue massage notice smoother skin. You can simply massage yourself everyday when applying your favorite lotion. However, don’t just gently apply the cream as you will need to vigorously apply it to achieve the benefits. Cellulite reduction creams that contain seaweed, caffeine and niacin have been known to help smooth out the lumpy bumpy appearance of cellulite.
Important to Remember
It is important to remember to drink plenty of water during and after the above natural cellulite solutions as the water will help the body rid itself of the toxins. If you don’t drink water, you may feel a bit nauseous, so do remember… drink at least 8 ounces immediately after any of the above treatments and continue to drink your water every day!
As with most beauty treatments, it is crucial that you continue to practice any of the above solutions as cellulite will just not magically disappear in one treatment. But having any of the above treatments on a regular basis with especially drinking plenty of water and massaging cellulite lotion into your skin twice a day vigorously can help to tone and tighten and smooth out your skin.
