3 min read

Of the women that have had liposuction at some point in their lives, there are a portion that face a very common problem. If you have had this procedure done in the past, you may wonder how this could have an effect on you during pregnancy. As the body is sure to change quite dramatically during pregnancy, many women wonder what will happen to the results of their liposuction if they get pregnant afterward. Fortunately there is really nothing to worry about. Having a baby after having a liposuction procedure is quite common and does not carry with it any risks at all.

Though there are no potential risks, there are some important things to keep in mind. If you had liposuction done in the abdomen area then you can consider that you will have a really cute baby belly throughout. When you had the liposuction done here, many of the fat cells were removed from the abdomen area. Therefore it makes it so much easier to get your tummy back to its normal shape after baby is born. That means you get to look cute throughout your pregnancy because fat will not likely accumulate her excessively here, and you get to bounce back much faster.

There is something to consider though when it comes to liposuction and pregnancy. Though you may not gain excess weight in the abdomen, it may very well appear and gather in other areas of the body such as the buttocks or the thighs. You may even find that the fat deposits in unusual areas such as the hands and feet. This may not be desirable, but is a common issue for women who get pregnant after liposuction.

The female body is meant and predisposed to gain weight during pregnancy. This is good for the baby throughout the pregnancy and good for natural things such as breastfeeding after the baby is born. It’s also biologically helpful as caring for a newborn takes a lot out of a woman and therefore the storing of fat all helps with this. Though you’re bound to put on some weight and you should during pregnancy, just don’t let yourself go crazy. You are certain to eat more, but just be smart about it. Talk to your doctor and understand what a healthy weight range is so that you can be smart about what you put in your mouth throughout your pregnancy.

If you have considered lipo to get your body into great shape, then it may be wise to wait until after you have gone through pregnancy and had your children. It may be much more beneficial to have the lipo after the baby has arrived. Once your body has recovered from pregnancy and from childbirth can be an ideal time to have liposuction done. A very common procedure happening now is for women to ask for a tummy tuck at the same time they have a scheduled C-section. This is best if you are sure you are done having children and know that your family is complete. So while liposuction before pregnancy won’t cause any harm or risks, it may be best to hold off if you can until you are done having children.
