Tips To Get Rid Of Cellulite – Load Up On Potassium

2 min read

Potassium is the most valuable mineral when it comes to fighting cellulite. The proper amount of potassium is necessary for the body to take in oxygen and nutrients, expel wastes, repair and renew and ultimately replace cells. All of these things compliment a smooth youthful body.

When this function is impeded in any way, a congestive build up occurs resulting in cellulite. The situation is compounded by slowing down further cellular activity, which makes the evacuation of wastes more and more difficult.

Sodium and potassium must be presented in proper ratios in the body at all times. A lack of potassium is often caused by and excess of sodium which results in fluid retention, flabbiness, poor intestinal tone, fatigue and muscle weakness. By cutting back on sodium and loading up on potassium rich foods, you can flush out excess water stored in the body this will make a dramatic difference to the smoothness and overall firmness of your skin.

The lymph relies on sufficient potassium to perform efficiently, and clean evenly flowing lymph is essential to a smooth healthy body. We can boost lymphatic circulation with exercise of course, but too much sodium in the diet will result in the fluid itself being too thick and therefore sluggish to move. Adequate potassium assures that the lymph remains clean and flows evenly to cleanse the body of wastes and impurities.

In a healthy diet, the ratio of potassium to sodium should be two to one, in other words you should be taking in at least twice the amount of potassium as sodium. Fruits and vegetables are naturally high in potassium, whereas most other foods are high in sodium. Here are some shocking examples:

· A cheese omelette with 2 eggs and processed cheese – 922 mg Sodium / 262 mg Potassium

· 2 slices of toast – 246 mg Sodium / 80 mg Potassium

· 100g cheese pretzels – 1680 mg Sodium / 130 mg Potassium

· ½ Avocado – 10 mg Sodium / 316 mg Potassium

· ½ Cucumber – 3 mg Sodium / 250 mg Potassium

· 1 Banana – 1 mg Sodium / 451 mg Potassium

This should easily demonstrate how sodium packed our diets have become. It’s no wonder that almost everyone these days is suffering from cellulite and/or obesity. To get rid of cellulite we should be eating twice as much fresh fruit and vegetables, and if not we are falling victim to sodium overload and this has a direct impact on cellulite.
