Get Rid Cellulite

Under The Weather? Here are Eight Things to Help You Feel better

4 min read

The Fall season tends to bring a lot of wonderful experiences with it- The leaves turning colors, holidays to enjoy with the family and  friends, and cozy nights by the fire. However, Fall also means cold and flu season is just around the corner! Everyone wants to avoid getting sick as much as possible but unfortunately it happens to the best of us. Luckily there are a few things you can do to prepare for your illness and hopefully make it a little less miserable. Here are eight things to help you feel better!

1. Over the Counter Cold and Flu Medicine

Having these on hand can help alleviate some of your symptoms and make you feel more comfortable while you ride out the illness. Make sure to get drowsy and non-drowsy options in case you need to take them during the day or at night. Always read the directions and warning labels before taking any medication, and if you have children in the house make sure to keep your medicines in a safe place where they can’t reach!

2. Fluids

Staying hydrated is important for overall health but it also helps thin out any congestion in your sinuses or chest. Water, tea, and broth are great options. Don’t forget to add some electrolytes into the mix with sports drinks or coconut water if you feel like you have a lot of energy being drained by your sickness.

3. Humidifier

Not only does the added moisture from an ultrasonic cool mist humidifier help with congestion, but it also can soothe a sore throat and dry cough. Your lungs and sinuses will absolutely thank you for the additional hydration that’ll help you recover faster! Not to mention that balanced moisture in your air will assist with deeper sleep, helping your body get the much needed recovery required to fight off the flu. Do yourself a favor and grab an ultrasonic cool mist humidifier this season!

4. Rest

It’s tempting to push through and try to stay as active as possible but resting and allowing your body to recover is key to getting better. Don’t feel guilty, take some time to relax and recuperate. Otherwise you may extend the amount of time you’re feeling under the weather and you’ll end up missing more!  Cozy bedding, warm blankets, and the right pajamas can make all the difference when you’re trying to get some peace. It’s never comfortable being sick but adding some extra comfort can make it bearable.

6. Healthy Food Options

Load up on fruits and vegetables, they provide essential vitamins and nutrients that can help boost your immune system. Comfort food is certainly good for the soul and spirits which is important, but it’s also important to fuel your body properly so that it can fight off whatever sickness has you under the weather. Avoid alcohol, as it can also weaken your immune system and prolong your illness.

7. Disinfection Products

Germs are often spread through touch so make sure to regularly clean commonly used surfaces in your home and wash your hands frequently.  It may also help to avoid crowded places where illness can easily be passed around. This will benefit yourself and others around you, especially if you’re already sick then you don’t want to be spreading it to others. If you do need to go out for errands, wearing a mask is a courteous way to be helpful to others and prevent spreading any germs.

8. Entertainment

Have some books, movies, or tv shows on hand to keep you occupied while resting and recovering, this is your perfect opportunity to finally watch that show everyone keeps telling you about! Or maybe even some coloring books or crafts if that’s more your style. Keeping yourself busy with things you enjoy will help pass the time and make being sick a little less miserable.

9. Support From Others

If you’re able, leaning on your friends and family for love and support can be a major game changer when you’re feeling ill. Loved ones can bring over some soup or check in to make sure you’re taking care of yourself. Having a shoulder to lean on during this time can be incredibly helpful and comforting, whether it’s assistance with errands or purely emotional support.

In Conclusion

Stay healthy this Fall by being prepared and taking care of yourself but if you do happen to catch a cold or flu, try implementing these tips to help alleviate some of your symptoms and get back on the road to feeling better! Remember to always check with your doctor if you have any concerns or your symptoms worsen instead of trying to tough it out on your own. Wishing you a happy and healthy Fall season!
